KNOWLEDGE / SCIENTIFIC SCOPE
Vaccine adjuvant knowledge
Bioadjuvant organizes vaccine-adjuvant concepts by class, composition, reported mechanism, experimental context, and evidence provenance. The first release is a knowledge prototype, not an exhaustive curated database.
Initial taxonomy
- Mineral salts: aluminium-containing adjuvants and formulation-dependent immune effects.
- Emulsions: oil-in-water systems, including MF59-type formulations.
- Saponin-based systems: saponin-containing formulations, including QS-21-containing systems.
- Pattern-recognition receptor agonists: examples include MPLA (TLR4) and CpG oligonucleotides (TLR9).
These categories describe different kinds of materials and mechanisms. They are not mutually exclusive, and a finished adjuvant system may contain multiple components.
Knowledge record requirements
Every future research record should identify the adjuvant formulation, antigen, model, comparator, dose, administration route, assay, measured endpoint, publication, and evidence limitations. Assertions about immunological outcomes must be traceable to specific publications.
